A unique timepiece that stands for 60 years of design history. The "60 Years Official Swiss Railways Watch" was created especially to mark the 60th anniversary of the Official Swiss Railways Watch in 2004. In time for the anniversary, the Swiss Railways watch will also be adorning a stamp issued by the Swiss Mail, in recognition of the unmistakable designer classic and its creator.
The numbered Special Edition is as close to the larger, station model as a wristwatch can be. Thus, it is not obvious how the polished, waterproof stainless-steel case is attached to the leather strap; indeed, it appears to float. The round case without any corners or sharp edges is reminiscent of the really big Swiss Railways clocks that can be seen adorning platforms at some 3,000 locations throughout Switzerland, bearing witness to the punctuality of Swiss Railways. The enclosed 20-centime piece (the Swiss refer to it affectionately as the "Zwänzgi") is a tool that lets the wearer change straps quickly and easily. The watch boasts a double case back, the outer case back has a notch for inserting the "Zwänzgi" or any other coin. Simply twist the coin to release the case back, exchange the straps and screw again. It’s a real quick-change artist!
