Aguapé Leather Armchair

"Aguapé" by Fernando and Humberto Campana is a water-lily. Its thick laser-cut leather petals spring naturally from stem-like chair legs.

Named after a Brazilian water lily, this small armchair has an invisible metal frame. The seat comprises hundreds of laser-cut leather petals applied by hand. Each petal is coated with polyurethane glue, placed on to the underlayer, weighted with quartzite bags and left for 10 to 30 minutes to ensure adhesion. Production times are understandably long. The chair legs are clad in unrendered leather giving the appearance of a stripped stem.
